SFDA meets Japanese firms to encourage investment and partnership.

Riyadh, March 23, 2025 – The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) hosted a roundtable meeting with leading Japanese companies in Tokyo, Japan. Chief Executive Officer of the SFDA, Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, was joined by representatives from major Japanese companies in the food, drug, and medical device sectors.
The SFDA outlined its regulatory and supervisory role over food, drugs, and medical devices, as well as its initiatives to support and empower both domestic and international investors. These efforts are part of the Health Sector Transformation Program, a key element of Saudi Vision 2030, aimed at strengthening global partnerships and attracting strategic investments.
Discussions focused on promising investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia, particularly in sectors relevant to the SFDA’s scope. Dr. Aljadhey highlighted the SFDA's commitment to streamlining processes and enhancing collaboration with Japanese investors, noting the authority's focus on improving the regulatory landscape, developing supportive policies, and providing facilitation services to ensure efficient market access for high-standard products.
The roundtable was held alongside the SFDA delegation’s participation in the 27th Annual Meeting of the International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF) in Tokyo and reflects the growing bilateral relationship between Saudi Arabia and Japan in healthcare, technology, and investment.
