SGS discovers geological tourist spot in Madinah's Harrat Khaybar volcanic field

Riyadh, January 22, 2024, The volcanic area of Harrat Khaybar, in the northeastern region of Madinah, has been identified by the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) as a new geological tourism attraction, according to SGS spokesperson Tariq Abaalkhail."A specialized geological team from SGS has documented the Kingdom's longest basalt cave, with a length of around five kilometers, which will be nominated as a tourist destination after technical studies are completed. The cave was named Abu Al-Wool after the large number of ibex skeletons found in it," according to him.According to Abaalkhail, this cave is a "tourist treasure" that will open up new opportunities for scholars and researchers working in this area.
