March 25, 2025, DUBAI: The ADIB Cup final next month promises to be exciting after Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai Club exacted revenge on Sharjah, and Al-Jazira mounted a thrilling comeback against Wasl in their semifinal encounters.
Shabab Al-Ahli will aim for a record-extending sixth ADIB Cup win when they face Al-Jazira in the final on April 19, with Jazira seeking to add to their lone victory in 2010.
Sunday's intense match at Rashid Stadium saw ADNOC Pro League leaders Shabab Al-Ahli face off against second-placed rivals Sharjah. A 2-2 draw secured Shabab Al-Ahli a 5-3 aggregate victory, with Fede Cartabia converting two penalties. Sharjah had initially given themselves hope with a 12th-minute goal from Corinthians loanee Biro. Cartabia's first penalty was answered by Shahin Abdulrahman's spot-kick, before Cartabia's second penalty sealed the win for Shabab Al-Ahli. This result avenged their AFC Champions League quarterfinal elimination by Sharjah before the international break.
On Saturday, France star Nabil Fekir scored as Al-Jazira turned a 1-0 first-leg deficit into a 3-2 aggregate victory with a dominant first-half performance at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium. Jazira’s Ramon Mierez, Vinicius Mello, and Fekir found the net, while Wasl’s Joao Pedro penalty proved irrelevant after Jazira's strong showing.
