Taif, August 27, 2023, The historical Shubra Palace, one of the most significant monuments in the city of Taif, stands out for its distinctive architectural style that combines Roman and Islamic elements. It is surrounded by lush gardens, fruit trees, and plants in vibrant colors. Built in 1905, the palace consists of 150 rooms on four floors. It has two huge entrances, the main one on the western side and a side entrance on the eastern side. Its facades feature columns made of stone and lime mortar. In the main hall of the palace, a double wooden staircase leads up to two wings containing rooms of various sizes. Its doors, windows, columns, and decorated ceilings bear the characteristics of Islamic architecture, while its fencing features Roman engravings. The palace was the royal summer residence of King Abdulaziz al-Saud. During the reign of King Faisal Al Saud, it became the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense and Aviation. In 1986, it turned into a museum of antiquities and heritage.
