Riyadh, October 2, 2024 – Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi, the Assistant Speaker of the Shura Council, held a meeting with Silvana Koch-Mehrin, the President and Founder of Women Political Leaders (WPL), at the Shura Council headquarters in Riyadh. During their discussions, Dr. Al-Ahmadi provided a comprehensive overview of the Shura Council's operational processes, emphasizing its key roles in legislative development and government oversight. She highlighted the significant achievements realized under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, particularly in relation to the empowerment of women across various sectors.
Dr. Al-Ahmadi underscored the active participation of Saudi women in leadership roles, noting their growing involvement in the Shura Council’s sessions, committees, and international engagements. She elaborated on how women in Saudi Arabia have taken on influential positions, both domestically and globally, thanks to the reforms driven by Vision 2030. These efforts have strengthened Saudi women's leadership roles in international forums and contributed to the Kingdom's enhanced presence in regional and international conferences.
Silvana Koch-Mehrin, in turn, commended the Kingdom's progress in various sectors, particularly the advancements in women’s empowerment. She praised the active role that Saudi women have played in achieving the ambitious goals set by Vision 2030, highlighting the notable strides made in increasing women’s participation in leadership and policymaking roles.
The meeting concluded with a tour of the Shura Council's facilities, including visits to the main session hall, the council chamber, and the historical museum, providing Koch-Mehrin with deeper insight into the council's rich history and current operations.
