Riyadh, October 08, 2023, The General Directorate of Passports has introduced a streamlined passport renewal process for citizens, offering the convenience of renewing passports electronically and activating them by visiting a local branch. Citizens are required to bring their old passports for examination, and activation can also be done at international ports during travel.
The Directorate has clarified that passport renewals can be easily initiated through the Ministry of Interior's electronic platform, Absher. Upon logging in, individuals can choose to have their renewed passports delivered via postal carrier or opt to collect them from a designated branch without the need for prior appointments.
Moreover, the General Directorate of Passports has underscored that newly issued passports will be exclusively received through postal carriers, eliminating the need for additional activation procedures. It's crucial for individuals to exercise care in handling their passports to prevent issues like mortgage, damage, or loss.
