MAKKAH, March 28, 2025: The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques is enhancing the safety, comfort, and overall experience of millions of pilgrims at the Grand Mosque through advanced technology and strategic oversight.
At the core of this transformation is a state-of-the-art command center, providing a comprehensive view of operations. Advanced sensors placed at key entrances track pilgrim numbers in real time, enabling efficient crowd monitoring and management in coordination with relevant authorities.
A sophisticated camera system captures real-time entry movements, offering instant insights into pilgrim flow and identifying potential congestion points. This integrated approach has significantly improved crowd control, especially in critical areas like the Tawaf and Sa’i routes.
The system ensures seamless crowd movement during peak periods, streamlining entry and exit processes. By analyzing both real-time and historical data, decision-makers can implement swift and informed crowd management solutions.
More than 200 digital panels have been installed across the mosque complex to enhance spatial navigation, allowing pilgrims to move through the area more efficiently.
To accommodate diverse mobility needs, the number of electric golf carts has been increased to 400, alongside the availability of custom-designed manual carts, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for pilgrims performing their religious rituals.
A massive cooling system, utilizing 155,000 tonnes of refrigeration, maintains an optimal ambient temperature throughout the sacred site. Thoughtfully designed lighting illuminates every section, while a high-precision audio system ensures that calls to prayer and religious services are broadcast with exceptional clarity. Additionally, a new luggage storage service offers secure, QR-coded smart tags for convenient tracking and retrieval of belongings.
The authority upholds rigorous service standards and implements regular updates to maintain operational efficiency and accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims.
