Makkah, October 31, 2023, The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) held meetings at the Hilton Makkah Convention Hotel from October 30 to November 1. The 26th session of the SMIIC Board of Directors was chaired by Dr. Saad Al-Kasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization and Chairman of the SMIIC Board of Directors.
In his opening address, Dr. Al-Kasabi highlighted the progress made during the Kingdom's presidency, emphasizing the institute's role in enhancing Islamic trade, improving product and service quality, and supporting member states. Decisions and recommendations were made to strengthen Islamic cooperation, facilitate intra-Islamic trade, and promote products on the global market.
The Kingdom's hosting of these meetings underscores its crucial role in regional and international Islamic cooperation. SMIIC's mission is to develop standardized specifications to ensure high-quality global products and engage stakeholders effectively.
