New York, February 19, 2025 – Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, held a significant meeting today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi. The high-level discussions took place in New York and focused on strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Somalia, with an emphasis on fostering greater cooperation across various fields.


During the meeting, both diplomats took the opportunity to review the current state of their countries' diplomatic ties and explore avenues for expanding collaboration in areas such as trade, security, humanitarian assistance, and development. A shared commitment to deepening these relations was evident, as both sides acknowledged the importance of enhancing bilateral ties for the benefit of their respective nations.


The discussions also encompassed a wide range of regional and international issues, with particular attention paid to developments that have a direct impact on both Saudi Arabia and Somalia. Both leaders engaged in constructive talks on matters of mutual concern, underscoring the importance of joint efforts in addressing challenges and maintaining stability in their respective regions.


Additionally, the meeting highlighted the role of the international community in supporting peace, security, and sustainable development, as well as the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing global challenges. The session was attended by Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, whose presence added further significance to the dialogue between the two countries.


The constructive nature of this meeting underscores the shared vision between Saudi Arabia and Somalia for stronger bilateral relations, while also demonstrating their joint efforts to contribute to regional peace and international stability.
