Tokyo, March 03, 2024, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Baeshen, the Secretary-General of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), engaged in a series of meetings in Tokyo to explore opportunities for enhanced sports cooperation and bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Japan.
In a meeting with Yocoi Yutaka, the Vice President of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), and Mitsugi Ogata, the Secretary-General of JOC, discussions focused on leveraging shared expertise in sports, technology, and administration to mutually benefit and advance the sports industries in both countries.
Secretary-General Baeshen also held discussions with Tomohiro Ida, the Secretary-General of the Japanese Paralympic Committee (JPC), to delve into developments in Paralympic sports in both nations and explore avenues for improvement in the Asian sports industry.
Further emphasizing the commitment to sports cooperation, Baeshen met with Murate Satoshi, the Secretary-General of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and Asian Para Games Supreme Organizing Committee (AINAGOC). During the visit to AINAGOC premises, Baeshen gained insights into the workflow and mechanisms in place, particularly relevant as Saudi Arabia prepares to host various Asian tournaments, including the 2025 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Riyadh, the 2029 Asian Winter Games in Trojena, and the 2034 Asian Games in Riyadh.
Accompanying Baeshen in the official delegation were Bakr Darwish, the Head of SOPC’s Joint Service Sector, and Muneera Alsudairi, Project Manager at the SOPC chief’s office. These engagements signify the commitment to fostering collaboration and growth in the sports sector between Saudi Arabia and Japan.
