South Korea beats Saudi Arabia 1-0 in friendly match

NEWCASTLE — In an international friendly played in Newcastle on Tuesday, the South Korean national team defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 as part of their preparations for the 2018 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar early next year.

The South Korean squad won the game thanks to a goal from Cho Guesung, who scored it in the 32nd minute.

Following a 1-3 loss to Costa Rica last Friday, this defeat represents the Saudi Arabian national team's second setback during the current international break under Roberto Mancini.

Saudi Arabia will participate in Group D of the AFC Asian Cup against Thailand, Oman, and Kyrgyzstan in what is sure to be a tough match.

In order to perform better and maintain its current form, the team will work to prepare for the famous event in Qatar.
