On October 8, 2024, Riyadh witnessed an official session of talks between the Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, and the Speaker of Bahrain's Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam. This important meeting took place at the Shura Council's headquarters and was part of Al-Musallam's official visit to Saudi Arabia, where he led a delegation from Bahrain's legislative body.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Al Al-Sheikh warmly welcomed Al-Musallam and his accompanying delegation, emphasizing the deep-rooted and growing relationship between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. He highlighted the frequent high-level exchanges between officials of the two nations, which reflect the strong bond between the two brotherly countries. The historic ties between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, he noted, have flourished in various fields, creating a model for cooperation that is guided by the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, along with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Dr. Al Al-Sheikh also underscored the robust relationship between Saudi Arabia's Shura Council and Bahrain’s Council of Representatives, pointing out the continuous collaboration between the two parliamentary bodies. This cooperation, he affirmed, serves the shared aspirations of both nations' leadership and their people.
For his part, Al-Musallam expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and praised the exceptional ties between the two countries’ leadership and citizens. He called for further strengthening of parliamentary relations, noting that this would further reinforce the already strong bilateral ties at all levels. Al-Musallam also commended Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in promoting security and stability in both the region and the world. He reiterated that the relationship between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia is a prime example of close and effective cooperation.
The talks between the two sides covered a wide range of topics of mutual interest, with a focus on enhancing cooperation between the Shura Council and Bahrain's Council of Representatives. After the discussions, Dr. Al Al-Sheikh hosted a lunch banquet in honor of Al-Musallam and his delegation, marking the conclusion of the productive session.
