Cairo, February 24, 2025 – During the seventh conference of the Arab Parliament and the Presidents of Arab Councils and Parliaments, held at the headquarters of the Arab League, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, announced that the heads of Arab councils and parliaments had adopted a comprehensive parliamentary document aimed at bolstering the resilience of the Palestinian people. The document strongly rejects any plans for the displacement and annexation of Palestinian territories, underscoring Arab unity in defending the rights and sovereignty of the Palestinian people. This vital document will be submitted to the upcoming emergency Arab summit, which is set to take place in Egypt in early March 2025.
In his address, Al Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, particularly Egypt’s critical efforts in formulating a comprehensive reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip. The speaker emphasized that this initiative is designed to ensure that the Palestinian people can remain on their land, free from the threats of displacement, and continue to build their nation in peace and security. Al Yamahi reiterated the Arab Parliament’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of the Palestinian people, highlighting that any efforts to undermine these rights are unacceptable.
The speaker forcefully condemned the recent plans aimed at displacing Palestinians and annexing their land, characterizing such actions as a blatant violation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, which are recognized universally. These plans, according to Al Yamahi, not only undermine the rights of the Palestinian people but also infringe upon the sovereignty of Arab nations that have long stood in solidarity with Palestine and made significant sacrifices in support of its cause.
Al Yamahi further stated that these efforts to alter the status of Palestine were part of a broader attempt to divert international attention away from the atrocities committed by the occupying forces in Gaza. He called attention to the ongoing massacres, war crimes, and colonial settlement activities occurring in the West Bank, all of which continue to threaten the Palestinian people’s existence and undermine efforts for a lasting peace.
At this critical moment, Al Yamahi stressed that Arab unity and a collective, unified stance are essential in defending the Palestinian cause. He reiterated the Arab Parliament’s full support for the positions of all Arab states in firmly rejecting any proposals that seek to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their homeland. This collective stand, according to Al Yamahi, represents the first line of defense against attempts to erase the Palestinian issue from the global stage.
The Arab Parliament's unified stance and commitment to supporting Palestine serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of solidarity in confronting regional challenges. The forthcoming submission of the parliamentary document to the emergency Arab summit is expected to further strengthen the Arab world’s resolve in supporting Palestinian rights and sovereignty. As the situation in Palestine continues to unfold, the Arab nations remain steadfast in their commitment to justice and peace for the Palestinian people.
