Washington, May 12, 2024,The conclusion of the technical committee meetings for the International Special Olympics occurred yesterday, spanning five days in the American capital, Washington. During these meetings, several important technical recommendations were issued, which will be communicated to various world programs totaling 193 programs, to begin adhering to them. This is particularly significant as there are specific technical rules for sports that will be applied in the 17th Summer World Games scheduled to be held in Chile in 2027, as well as in various regional or local games and competitions after the approval of these recommendations.

The meetings also discussed the sessions dedicated to each region in the 17th Summer World Games hosted by the Chilean capital, Santiago, with the participation of 6,000 athletes from over 170 countries competing in 22 Olympic sports. More than 2,000 coaches and thousands of volunteers will also participate in the games.

Saudi Arabia participated in the previous games held in the German capital Berlin in 2023, where its athletes won 25 medals, including eight gold, six silver, and eleven bronze medals. The Saudi delegation consisted of 130 members, including 85 athletes competing in fifteen Olympic sports.
