Riyadh, September 27, 2023, The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) is actively engaging in events during the Monaco Yacht Show, taking place from the 27th to the 30th of September. This participation includes joining a roundtable discussion centered on sustainable tourism, hosting meetings, and conducting workshops. These activities align with SRSA's core mission of establishing and strengthening international partnerships within the maritime sector.
Throughout the event, SRSA is engaging with various maritime stakeholders, including marina operators, shipyard operators, coastal tourism consultants, and specialized media outlets in the tourism and coastal tourism sectors. The aim is to foster partnerships and attract investments to promote coastal tourism in the Red Sea region.
Mohammed Al-Asiri, Acting CEO of SRSA, emphasized the significance of the Monaco Yacht Show as a pivotal event in the yacht industry. He highlighted the opportunity it presents for SRSA to cultivate global relationships within the coastal tourism sector, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.
Additionally, SRSA was invited to participate in a roundtable discussion titled "Why Sustainable Tourism Is a Key Asset of Economic Growth and The Key Role Played by Public Organizations and Policy Makers." This discussion was held as part of the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous 2023, organized by Monaco Marina Management. The event brought together a diverse ecosystem of entrepreneurs, startups, industrialists, marina developers, and other stakeholders to explore innovative solutions for advancing marina development.
SRSA's proactive engagement in Monaco follows their visit to the region in August of this year, where they signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Monaco Yacht Club and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. These MoUs were focused on advancing coastal tourism in the Red Sea, further solidifying SRSA's commitment to leading the maritime ecosystem by promoting navigational and marine tourism activities.
In pursuit of its vision, SRSA has established a comprehensive framework that involves collaboration among 19 government entities. This collaborative effort has resulted in the creation of a groundbreaking geographical navigation map, delineating the scope for maritime and marine tourism activities along the Red Sea coast. The ongoing cooperation encompasses the determination and classification of exempted areas, legislative requirements, governance reviews, and the development of digital solutions to guide implementation. All these efforts converge towards the common goal of establishing a sustainable coastal tourism economy for the Red Sea region, capitalizing on the Kingdom's unique geographical location and positioning it as a prominent hub for maritime and marine tourism activities in the region.
