SSA signs MoU with NorthStar for Earth observation services

Riyadh, February 11, 2024, Today, the Saudi Space Agency (SSA) formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NorthStar, a leading global entity specializing in Earth observation data and analytics services. The primary objective of this agreement is to fortify collaboration, explore forthcoming opportunities, and facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge within the realm of space situational awareness.

The MoU, inked by Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, CEO of SSA, and Stewart Bain, CEO of NorthStar, was enacted on the sidelines of the Space Debris Conference hosted in Riyadh.

Within the framework of this pact, both entities pledge to synergize efforts in bolstering the Kingdom's space industry. This collaborative venture will entail the enhancement of research and development capabilities, with a particular emphasis on the establishment of a specialized center of excellence dedicated to space situational awareness. Additionally, the partnership will encompass joint endeavors in space traffic management, with a focal point on research initiatives and exploratory ventures related to space sustainability, environmental dynamics, and the deployment of cutting-edge sensor technologies. Furthermore, the agreement encompasses the exploration of advanced data analytics capabilities.

These strategic collaborations underscore the Saudi Space Agency's ongoing commitment to fostering global partnerships within the space sector, reflecting the Kingdom's unwavering dedication to fostering cooperation in the pursuit of space sustainability and advancement.
