State Minister for Foreign Affairs Meets with EU Political and Security Committee Members

Riyadh, November 25, 2024Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy of Saudi Arabia, held an important meeting on Sunday with members of the European Union's Political and Security Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Riyadh. The delegation was led by Delphine Pronk, Chair of the EU committee, and included Luigi Di Maio, the EU Special Representative for the Gulf region.


The discussions focused on a wide range of topics, with Minister Al-Jubeir providing an in-depth overview of Saudi Arabia's foreign policy and its proactive role in shaping both regional and global affairs. Al-Jubeir highlighted the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to promote peace, stability, and security in the Middle East and beyond. He emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to diplomatic solutions for regional conflicts, as well as its advocacy for fostering international cooperation in areas critical to global peace.


A central point of the meeting was the strengthening of bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and the European Union. Minister Al-Jubeir and the EU delegation explored various avenues for deepening cooperation, particularly in the fields of environmental sustainability and climate change initiatives. Given the global urgency of addressing climate challenges, both sides expressed a shared commitment to advancing environmental projects that would contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals and support the EU's broader climate objectives.


In addition to Minister Al-Jubeir, the meeting was attended by Haifa bint Abdurrahman Al-Jedea, Saudi Ambassador to the EU and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom), and Christophe Farnaud, the EU Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Both ambassadors played a crucial role in facilitating the dialogue, further underscoring the importance of EU-Saudi relations in promoting stability and progress on a range of global issues.


This meeting marks a continuation of Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts to enhance strategic ties with the European Union, particularly in addressing complex geopolitical challenges and advancing global climate action. By fostering closer ties, the Kingdom aims to strengthen its international partnerships, contributing to a more secure, sustainable, and prosperous future for both the region and the world.
