Sulaiman Al Homran, Lead Architect at Omrania, has been chosen to participate in the NEOM Young Architects Residency Program in Venice. This collaborative initiative between NEOM Urban Planning and the Ministry of Culture's Architecture & Design Commission was dedicated to exploring the future of urbanism and livability.
The program, held in Venice from July 7th to July 13th, aimed to push the boundaries of urban design, prompting participants to investigate innovative approaches guided by the concept of Zero Gravity Urbanism. Ten young Saudi practitioners, including architects, urban designers, planners, and artists, were brought together in a collaborative environment with mentors from the field.
The Young Architects Residency studios were the focal point of the program, providing participants with the opportunity to work on short and intensive projects under the guidance of design instructors. These studios, situated in Venice, served as an inspiring backdrop for architects to explore experimental methods, including the creation of 3D-printed models using 3D printing machines. Daily review sessions allowed for the refinement of ideas.
The central challenge of the program involved designing a futuristic city while addressing real-world challenges. Through knowledge sharing, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of urban planning and design. Sulaiman's outstanding presentation and valuable contribution to shaping the future of urban vision are celebrated by Omrania. This achievement underscores Omrania's steadfast commitment to nurturing talent and promoting sustainable, forward-thinking design practices.
