Tabuk's Odeh Al-Atwi creates desert museum for memorable visitor experience

Tabuk, March 14, 2024, Odeh Al-Atwi, hailing from the Tabuk region, has embarked on a remarkable endeavor by establishing a museum near the Hasma desert, aiming to provide visitors with an unforgettable journey through history.

In an interview with a reporter from the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Atwi revealed that his passion for collecting rare items commenced as a hobby 25 years ago. Over time, his collection evolved to encompass a myriad of historical and heritage artifacts, many of which were on the verge of being forgotten. Recognizing the significance of these treasures, Al-Atwi took the initiative four years ago to establish the Hasma Museum, with the noble intention of sharing his rich history with the wider community.

Spanning an impressive 2,200 square meters, the museum boasts a vast collection exceeding 10,000 artifacts. These encompass a diverse array of items, including vintage traditional clothing, ancient coins, primitive weaponry, classic automobiles, and an array of photographs and memorabilia that narrate the Kingdom's multifaceted history and the contributions of its various government agencies.

Expressing his gratitude, Al-Atwi acknowledged the Museums Commission for its instrumental role in encouraging and supporting the establishment of his museum, underscoring the unwavering backing of the Saudi leadership for the cultural sector.

Aspiring individuals seeking to establish their own museums can obtain the necessary licenses through the Ministry of Culture's Abdea platform. This digital platform serves as a conduit for Saudi practitioners and talents to acquire licenses and permits for cultural activities, thus contributing to the cultivation of a future enriched by creativity and cultural expression.
