Riyadh as of May 24, 2024 Travelers arriving in Makkah by air, sea, or land can choose from a variety of transportation options provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom developed new railroads, ports, airports, and paved highways to make the journey safer for pilgrims. The Kingdom has used all of its human and technological resources to ensure pilgrims' safety and improve the convenience of their travels.

The vastness of the Kingdom, which connects it to eight surrounding countries, made the General Authority for Roads eager to focus more attention on the roads that lead pilgrims to sacred locations with designs that are both modern and creative.

Ten important routes for roads have been chosen by the General Authority to give pilgrims from other nations access. Travelers from the state of Kuwait have two roadways to choose from when heading to Makkah. The initial highway, referred to as "Khafji-NNairyah-RRiyadh-MMakkah," extends over 1,473 kilometers. The second route, which is 1,277 kilometers long, is "Riggae-HHafr Al-Batin-MMajmaah-MMakkah". The route that leads from Batha to Salwa to Hofuf to Riyadh to Taif to Makkah is accessible to the Arab Emirates. There are 1,514 kilometers on this road. Alternatively, pilgrims from Qatar may travel using the route from Salwa to Hofuf, then onward to Riyadh, Taif, and then Makkah. We estimate 1,385 miles on the road. Pilgrims from the Kingdom of Bahrain can travel by the use of the King Fahd Causeway via Taif to Khobar, Riyadh, and Makkah in order of preference. The estimated length of the highways is 1,320 kilometers.

There are two roads that lead north from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the holy city of Makkah. The first route starts at Halat Ammar and travels to Al-Madinah via Tabuk.

You will be able to travel on this way to the extent of 1,219 kilometers. The second approach starts from Haditha to Qurayyat, from Qurayyat to Sakakah, from Sakakah to Makkah and then from Makkah to Al-Madinah where it ends. The total length between these paths is estimated at about 1,545 km. Jdeidet Arar, Arar, Sakakah, Al-Madinah, Makkah is the 1,579-kilometer course used by visitors coming from Iraq Republic.

Pilgrims from the Republic of Yemen can travel 1,372 kilometres along the Al-Wadiah-NNajran-AAbha-Makah route to reach Makkah from the south. The 2,150-kilometres Umm al Zamul - Al-Batha - Salwa - Hofuf - Makkah Empty Quarter road, however, is accessible to visitors from the Sultanate of Oman.

The General Authority for Roads has begun early preparations for this year's Hajj season. The General Authority for Roads also evaluated the road network leading to the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah and made sure that all safety and quality standards are in order. The authority places the responsibility for removing sand dunes, trimming road shoulders, and scraping and resurfacing asphalt in some areas. It also involves ensuring that the warning signs are current and cleaning the streams of the valley to protect metal and concrete barriers. These arrangements have enhanced the ability to maintain a high-quality road network.
