"Riyadh, June 22, 2024." After undergoing a two-year trial phase, the Transport General Authority (TGA) disclosed that over two thousand trips were made utilizing the electric scooter, indicating the project's success.
The TGA issued a press statement that year, implementing the program as a primary service to facilitate the transportation of elderly and disabled pilgrims. As stated in the announcement, the objective of the project was to construct permanent pathways in order to facilitate the passage of pilgrims along three different routes. The old route connected Arafat with Muzdalifah over a distance of four kilometers. The second walkway connected to the Jamarat complex and was 1.2 kilometers long, ending at the western bridge. An additional choice was the eastern bridge, which was similar to the first bridge in that it was 1.2 kilometers long and went to the Jamarat complex. We provided the four-wheeled, three-wheeled, and two-wheeled kinds of electric scooters in order to accommodate the different needs of the pilgrims.
This diversity provided all users with quick, effective, and risk-free moving alternatives. The authority began conducting tests using electric scooters during the Hajj season of 1443, then expanded the trial in 1444, and finally established the service in its entirety during the Hajj season of 1445. We have implemented this program as part of ongoing efforts to provide visitors to the sacred mosque and other sacred sites with a variety of services that are both convenient and accessible.
