TGA warns against unlicensed passenger transportation, imposes SAR5,000 fine

Riyadh, March 18, 2024, The Transport General Authority (TGA) has issued a stern warning regarding the transportation of passengers without a proper license, imposing a fine of SAR5,000 for violators. In an effort to promote safety and reliability in travel, the TGA has urged unlicensed carriers to align with licensed companies, offering incentives and support programs for their integration.

To further emphasize the importance of licensed carriers and ensure secure transportation services, a collaborative effort has been launched by the TGA, along with the Ministry of Interior, the Pilgrim Experience Program, the Public Prosecution, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and MATARAT Holding Company. The #DontrideWithNonLicensed campaign aims to raise awareness and encourage travelers to opt for licensed transportation options, particularly to and from the Kingdom's airports.

Travelers are provided with a range of options, including nearly 2,000 taxis, over 55 car rental offices, public transport buses, licensed passenger transport apps, and the Haramain High-Speed Railway at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. These licensed carriers offer various services such as electronic payment and real-time trip tracking, ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers throughout their journey.
