KUALA LAMPUR — The AFC Extraordinary Congress 2023, under the leadership of AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and featuring FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Yasser Al-Misehal, the president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), has thrown its enthusiastic support behind Saudi Arabia's endeavor to host the 2034 World Cup.
During the virtual congress held on Wednesday, the AFC displayed a powerful show of solidarity, with President Al-Misehal extending his gratitude to the AFC and its member associations for endorsing Saudi Arabia's ambitious bid to host this prestigious event in 2034.
He conveyed Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to presenting an outstanding bid, highlighting the remarkable progress in Saudi and Asian football.
Concurrently, elections were conducted by the AFC member associations, resulting in the appointment of Bandar Al-Hamidani, the chairman of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, as a member of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for the 2023-2027 term.
