Broader Impact: This project is part of KSrelief’s broader efforts in water and environmental sanitation, aiming to improve quality of life, provide sustainable solutions, and reduce disease spread in needy areas globally.

Riyadh, August 20, 2024 — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has strengthened its global humanitarian efforts by signing a cooperation agreement with a civil society organization to implement a significant water project in Nigeria. The agreement, finalized yesterday in Riyadh, focuses on drilling 21 medium-depth wells powered by solar energy across several key regions in Nigeria. The signing ceremony was led by Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, the Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs at KSrelief.

Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Moallem, Director of Health and Environmental Aid at KSrelief, detailed the objectives and scope of the project. The initiative aims to address critical water shortages in Abuja, Enugu, Kano, Osun, Oyo, and Kaduna. By drilling these solar-powered wells, the project seeks to provide a reliable source of potable water for both human consumption and livestock, which is essential for improving health and reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases.

The project is expected to have a substantial impact, directly benefiting approximately 105,000 individuals. This effort is designed to mitigate the adverse effects of consuming polluted water, which can lead to serious health issues and fatalities. By ensuring access to clean water, the project also aims to alleviate the significant water deficit faced by these communities.

This water initiative is part of KSrelief’s broader strategy of implementing humanitarian and relief projects that focus on water provision and environmental sanitation. These projects are designed to improve the quality of life for communities in need, offer sustainable environmental solutions, and contribute to reducing the spread of diseases and epidemics. Through such projects, KSrelief continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing essential aid and fostering global development.

Overall, the cooperation agreement underscores KSrelief’s ongoing dedication to addressing global humanitarian needs, particularly in the critical area of water and environmental health. The initiative represents a significant step towards improving living conditions and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria.
