Riyadh, February 15, 2025 – The Arab Union of Electricity Board of Directors has elected the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), represented by Acting CEO Eng. Khalid bin Salem Al-Ghamdi, as chairman of the board for the 2025-2027 term. The election took place during the board's meeting on Thursday in Riyadh, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the regional energy sector.The decision was made as part of the Arab Union of Electricity’s 22nd Ordinary General Assembly, which convened approximately 33 members representing electricity authorities, institutions, and companies across the Arab world. The assembly also elected a new Board of Directors with representatives from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Jordan, Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Tunisia, Sudan, and Algeria.SEC’s appointment as chairman highlights the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to enhance energy cooperation, innovation, and sustainability across the Arab region. The Arab Union of Electricity serves as a key platform for fostering collaboration among member states, promoting advancements in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, and ensuring a more interconnected and efficient power sector.
