
Jeddah, March 03, 2025 – In a significant meeting at the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat, H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the OIC, warmly welcomed Ambassador Nasser Al-Zaabi, the Chairman of the Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Islamic University in Niger. The gathering also included several distinguished members of the university’s Board of Trustees, who are in Saudi Arabia to participate in the 68th session of the ISF’s Permanent Council. The session is a pivotal occasion for the ISF to review and discuss key initiatives supporting its ongoing projects.
The meeting, which also saw the presence of Saleh Al-Suhaibani, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the OIC and Deputy Chairman of the ISF, provided a platform for dialogue on matters of mutual concern and collaboration. During the session, Secretary-General Taha expressed his profound appreciation for the unwavering dedication and substantial contributions made by Ambassador Al-Zaabi and the Board of Trustees towards the growth and development of the Islamic University in Niger. Taha emphasized that the OIC remains steadfast in its commitment to assisting the university in overcoming its challenges, while striving for higher academic standards and excellence.
Ambassador Al-Zaabi and the members of the Board of Trustees, who have overseen the university’s progress since its establishment in 1984, took the opportunity to commend the significant strides made by both the host government of Niger and the university’s administration. They acknowledged the vital role played by the OIC in the institution's success thus far and stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration and coordination among the Board of Trustees, the OIC General Secretariat, and the government of Niger. Their discussions centered on identifying strategies to address ongoing challenges and focused on exploring opportunities to improve the university’s infrastructure and academic offerings, in order to elevate its standards and impact on the region.
This meeting underscores the continued commitment of the OIC to supporting educational institutions within its member states, ensuring that initiatives such as the Islamic University in Niger remain centers of academic excellence and innovation. With the collective support of the OIC, the host government, and dedicated leadership from the Board of Trustees, the university is expected to continue making significant contributions to the educational landscape of the Islamic world.
