The chairman of the Muslim Commission of Nepal meets with the undersecretary for Islamic affairs.

Bilateral Collaboration: Sheikh Dr. Awad Al-Anazi, Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs from Saudi Arabia, met with Samim Miya Ansari, Chairman of the National Muslim Commission of Nepal, to discuss mutual interests in Islamic affairs and strengthen ties between the two nations.

Kathmandu, December 24, 2024 — In a significant diplomatic engagement, Sheikh Dr. Awad Al-Anazi, the Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance of Saudi Arabia, met with Samim Miya Ansari, the Chairman of the National Muslim Commission of Nepal, at the Commission’s headquarters in Kathmandu. This meeting marks an important step in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Nepal on matters related to Islamic affairs.


The discussions between Sheikh Dr. Al-Anazi and Samim Miya Ansari centered around a range of topics of mutual interest, particularly those concerning the promotion and support of Islamic teachings, as well as enhancing cooperation in areas relevant to the Muslim community in Nepal. The two leaders exchanged views on improving the welfare of Muslims in Nepal, with a focus on Islamic education, Dawah initiatives, and community development efforts.


Sheikh Dr. Al-Anazi emphasized Saudi Arabia’s longstanding commitment to supporting Islamic causes globally, particularly in regions like South Asia, and reiterated the Kingdom’s efforts in promoting religious harmony, cultural understanding, and interfaith dialogue. He highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in empowering local Muslim communities, while also enhancing their access to Islamic education and spiritual guidance.


The meeting also explored potential areas for further cooperation between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the National Muslim Commission of Nepal, particularly in the domains of religious infrastructure, capacity building, and facilitating Islamic educational programs. Both sides expressed a strong desire to work together to strengthen the bond between the two nations, reinforcing the shared values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.


The visit and subsequent discussions underscore Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the Islamic community in Nepal and its ongoing efforts to build stronger ties with countries across the region. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between Islamic institutions in fostering a united and flourishing Muslim ummah worldwide.
