Riyadh, December 17, 2024 – In a significant diplomatic and military exchange, Lieutenant General Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman, Commander of the Joint Forces, received Dr. Rashad Mohammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen, in Riyadh on Monday. The meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to discuss critical field developments in Yemen, particularly in relation to the ongoing efforts to secure and stabilize liberated areas, ensuring the safety and well-being of local residents.
During their discussions, General Al-Salman and Dr. Al-Alimi focused on ways to further strengthen the Yemeni military, with a particular emphasis on bolstering the Yemeni army’s capabilities to maintain security and prevent any threats to the stability of areas freed from conflict. The collaboration between the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen and the Yemeni army was also a key topic of the talks, with both sides emphasizing the continued support and assistance being provided to help Yemen reclaim its sovereignty and restore peace.
Dr. Al-Alimi expressed his deep appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing support for Yemen, particularly the leadership provided by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom. He also extended his gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, for their steadfast efforts in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and supporting Yemen’s path toward achieving its aspirations for peace, stability, and prosperity. The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council highlighted the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to Yemen’s recovery, noting the significance of Saudi Arabia’s assistance in the form of humanitarian aid and military support.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials and military leaders from both the Saudi and Yemeni sides. From the Saudi side, Major General Pilot Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces, was present, along with several high-ranking leaders from the Joint Forces Command. On the Yemeni side, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Presidency Office, accompanied Dr. Al-Alimi, alongside various Yemeni officials and military leaders.
This meeting marked a continued commitment to fostering strong bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, with a shared goal of achieving lasting peace and stability in Yemen. The discussions reflect the ongoing collaboration between the two nations and the broader Coalition to support Yemen’s recovery and defense efforts, while reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s role as a key partner in the region's security and humanitarian efforts.
