Riyadh, January 31, 2025 – The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival 2025, one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the Middle East, is in full swing, drawing attention from camel racing enthusiasts and visitors alike. Today marks the exciting fifth day of the festival, which is being held at the renowned Al-Janadriyah Square in Riyadh, where 92 skilled camel riders—comprising both men and women—are competing for a share of the substantial prize pool.

The total prize fund for the camel races amounts to an impressive SAR 1.3 million, with SAR 940,000 allocated for the men’s races and SAR 376,000 designated for the women’s races. This significant prize money highlights the growing importance and recognition of camel racing as a sport, not only in Saudi Arabia but across the globe. The diverse list of participants further attests to the international appeal of this unique competition. Riders have traveled from far and wide, including countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United States, Poland, Algeria, France, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Switzerland, Britain, Yemen, Germany, and Jordan.

The festival has become a significant cultural event, showcasing the rich traditions of Saudi Arabia while fostering a competitive spirit that unites riders from various backgrounds. In response to the overwhelming demand and the enthusiastic participation of women in the sport, the organizing committee made an important adjustment to the schedule. A second round for women’s races was introduced, bringing the total number of rounds for female competitors to seven.

This year’s race distances are designed to challenge both the speed and endurance of the camels, with men’s races covering a total distance of 29 kilometers. The men will compete over five rounds, each spanning 5 kilometers, totaling 25 kilometers. Meanwhile, the women will race over two rounds of 2 kilometers each, adding up to 4 kilometers in total.

The competition is fierce, with each round offering a substantial prize of SAR 60,000 for the winners, making every race an intense battle for victory. As the festival continues, it promises to deliver more thrilling moments, highlighting the skill and dedication of both the camel riders and their magnificent animals. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival remains a key event in Saudi Arabia’s calendar, celebrating the kingdom’s heritage while embracing the spirit of international competition and camaraderie.
