Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi sent his warmest congratulations to the government and parliament of Slovenia for taking a historical decision to recognize Palestine. He said this step will prove to be another reminder of the international community's acceptance of the rights of the Palestinian people and will help them achieve all of their legal and legitimate rights. Albudaiwi also praised Slovenia's recognition of the State of Palestine, saying that this recognition is another proof of the commitment the country has to the implementation of international conventions and agreements and that the country is committed to the process of ending the conflict in the Middle East. In his statement, he reiterated the significance of achieving a comprehensive peace that is founded on a two-state solution, as defined in the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
