Riyadh, February 26, 2025 – Lieutenant General Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, the Director of Public Security, conducted a thorough inspection of the preparedness of Saudi Arabia’s security and traffic authorities for the upcoming Umrah season of 1446 AH. The inspection was part of a comprehensive evaluation of the plans designed to ensure the safety and well-being of the millions of pilgrims expected to participate in the annual religious journey.
During the visit, Lieutenant General Al-Bassami observed a live, field deployment exercise designed to simulate the implementation of these security measures. The exercise included representatives from all agencies involved in maintaining public safety and ensuring smooth traffic flow, with the active participation of the Umrah security forces and field commanders. The Director of Public Security also toured several key locations within the Grand Mosque and its surrounding courtyards, critical areas that experience high volumes of worshippers during Umrah.
