Riyadh, September 3, 2024 – In a significant development for regional diplomacy, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, co-chaired a pivotal meeting of the Executive Committee of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council in Riyadh on Sunday.
The meeting commenced with Prince Faisal bin Farhan extending a warm and cordial welcome to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman and his accompanying delegation. In his opening remarks, Prince Faisal highlighted the purpose of the gathering: to fortify the bilateral relationship between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, align with the aspirations of both nations’ leaderships and their citizens, and chart a course toward expanding and deepening their cooperative ties.
Prince Faisal underscored that the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council serves as a crucial mechanism for orchestrating activities across diverse sectors, thereby strengthening fraternal relations. He emphasized that the council plays a pivotal role in advancing the 2030 visions of both nations, which is expected to yield positive outcomes for both countries and their populations.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, in his address, lauded the remarkable efforts of the council’s committees in revising and expanding the list of initiatives. Attendees included Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Finance, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, and Fahad Alharthi, Director General of the General Administration of Secretariats of Councils and Committees at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
