Reta Al-Kharfi, which is located in between Al-Sara and Tihama, is an architectural masterpiece of honeybees habitation as old as one millennium, admired for its properly formed honeycombs plus beautiful stone paving.
Taif June 21, 2024. The honey apiaries of the Maysan governorate in the Sarawat Mountains to the south of Taif are in a magnificent location and are a wonder of nature. The honeyfort has 1,200 beehives and they were the main source of food for our ancestors.
It also developed into a major hub for the manufacturing and export of genuine Saudi honey, which is integral to the nation's economic and cultural life. History buff Abdulwahab Al-Khedidi draws attention to the architectural wonder of the more than a millennium-old Al-Kharfi beekeeping complex, which is situated between Al-Sara and Tihama. Al-Khedidi characterizes this work of art as exquisite stone paving arranged like well-formed honeycombs.
Al-Khedidi purposefully chose its location in the middle of mountain ranges due to the abundance of native aromatic plants that are unique to the area. In addition, he said that these regions are home to over fifty different species of aromatic plants, such as ruta, basil, marjoram, vepris, and unusual wildflowers.
