Jeddah, January 24, 2025 — In a significant step toward enhancing public recreational spaces, Jeddah Municipality has officially inaugurated the first sandy beach in North Abhar, spanning an impressive 17,640 square meters. This initiative forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the city’s waterfronts and provide high-quality, accessible public beaches for both residents and tourists. The beach has quickly become a popular destination, reflecting the municipality’s commitment to offering well-maintained, secure, and free public spaces for water-related activities, including swimming and leisurely enjoyment of the seaside.

Since its opening, the North Abhar beach has seen a steady influx of visitors, all eager to experience the unique features of this newly developed site. In line with the Kingdom’s focus on improving quality of life and public amenities, the beach is designed with a keen focus on safety, comfort, and sustainability. Equipped with lifeguards accredited by the Saudi Life Saving Federation, the beach ensures swift and efficient responses to any potential emergencies. This focus on safety is further reinforced by the installation of marine surveillance towers, which are integral in monitoring the beach area and supporting emergency rescue operations when necessary.

The municipality has also taken significant steps to enhance the eco-friendliness and overall experience at the beach. Solar-powered lighting systems have been installed throughout the area, providing sustainable and energy-efficient illumination for visitors, while also aligning with the Kingdom’s broader environmental goals. In addition, informational signs have been strategically placed to guide beachgoers on the rules, regulations, and operating hours, ensuring that the beach remains a safe and well-organized space for all.

Looking to the future, Jeddah Municipality has ambitious plans for the expansion of waterfront recreation in North Abhar. Two more beaches are currently under development, with one spanning an area of 10,320 square meters and the other covering a vast 75,000 square meters. These new projects aim to further enhance the city’s coastal offerings, providing even more opportunities for residents and tourists to enjoy the beauty of Jeddah’s waterfronts while promoting a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.

Through these efforts, Jeddah Municipality is not only improving public amenities but also contributing to the broader vision of enhancing the quality of life in the Kingdom. By creating spaces that blend safety, sustainability, and leisure, the municipality is ensuring that Jeddah remains an attractive destination for both locals and visitors alike. The new beach in North Abhar, along with the upcoming expansions, represents a commitment to creating vibrant, accessible public spaces that encourage active lifestyles, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
