The governor of Qassim welcomes the ambassador of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia.

Meeting Between Prince Faisal and Ambassador Ajwad: Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal, Governor of Qassim Region, welcomed Sri Lankan Ambassador Omar Lebbe Ameer Ajwad during his visit, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Buraidah, December 25, 2024Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Qassim Region, warmly welcomed Ambassador Omar Lebbe Ameer Ajwad, the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia, during his visit to the region today. The two leaders held a productive and cordial meeting, during which they discussed several important matters related to bilateral cooperation and regional initiatives.


In his welcoming remarks, Prince Faisal expressed his appreciation for Sri Lanka's active participation in the Saudi Green Initiative. The Governor commended Sri Lanka’s commitment to sustainability, recognizing that its involvement in the initiative plays a significant role in advancing the Kingdom’s ambitious environmental goals. These goals are centered on combating desertification, enhancing sustainability, and preserving natural resources for future generations.


The Saudi Green Initiative, which is a key part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aims to mitigate the effects of climate change and promote environmental stewardship across the Kingdom and beyond. Ambassador Ajwad's engagement with this initiative underscores Sri Lanka’s dedication to global environmental efforts and its ongoing collaboration with Saudi Arabia in achieving a greener, more sustainable future.


During the meeting, Prince Faisal and Ambassador Ajwad also discussed a range of other issues of mutual interest, focusing on strengthening the friendly relations between the two nations and exploring opportunities for further cooperation.
