The Grand Mosque's Two Holy Mosques Authority Provides Free Bag Storage

Free Luggage Storage Service: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has launched a free luggage storage service for Umrah performers at two locations near the Grand Mosque (east near the Makkah Library, west near Gate 64).

Makkah, December 26, 2024 – The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has introduced a new service to ease the experience for Umrah performers by providing free luggage storage at two key locations near the Grand Mosque. This initiative is designed to support pilgrims during their visit, ensuring they can perform their rituals comfortably without the burden of carrying heavy bags or personal items.

The luggage storage service is available at two designated areas: one to the east of the mosque, near the Makkah Library, and the other to the west, near Gate 64. To take advantage of the service, Umrah performers are required to show their Umrah permit through the Nusuk app, the official platform used for managing permits and pilgrimage-related services. Bags can be stored for a maximum of 4 hours and must not exceed 7 kilograms in weight. However, it is important to note that only bags (not loose items or sacks) are allowed for storage. In addition, valuables, prohibited items, food, and medicine are strictly not permitted for storage.

Once bags are deposited, pilgrims are given a claim ticket, which is necessary for retrieving their belongings. This system is designed to provide a smooth and organized process, minimizing inconvenience for worshippers.

The General Authority has emphasized its commitment to enhancing the experience of Umrah performers and visitors to the Grand Mosque. In line with this, there are plans to expand the luggage storage service in the future, with the goal of extending it to cover all areas surrounding the Grand Mosque. This will help facilitate easier access for visitors, especially during peak times, and further assist those who come to perform Umrah in the spirit of devotion and worship.

This initiative is a part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to provide the best possible services for pilgrims and visitors, enhancing the experience and ensuring that all who come to the holy sites can do so with ease and comfort. It aligns with the broader objectives of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to improve infrastructure and services for religious tourism, making the Umrah experience more accessible and fulfilling for Muslims from around the world.
