Najran, February 23, 2025 – In a vibrant celebration of Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage, the Najran Branch of the Heritage Commission organized an event on Saturday at the Al-Ukhdood Archaeological Site Visitor Center in honor of Founding Day. This cultural occasion provided an immersive experience that highlighted the Kingdom’s deep-rooted traditions and historical significance.

The event featured a series of heritage-themed sections that showcased the diversity and beauty of Saudi Arabia’s history. One of the main attractions was a dedicated corner for traditional daggers, or jambiya, which have long been symbolic of the Arabian Peninsula’s martial and cultural heritage. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the craftsmanship and significance of these traditional weapons, which remain an integral part of the region's identity.

In addition to the jambiya corner, the event also included an outdoor hospitality area designed in traditional Arabian style, offering a warm and welcoming environment for visitors to experience the Kingdom's renowned hospitality. This section provided an authentic setting, where attendees could enjoy traditional seating arrangements and engage with the local customs that have been passed down through generations.

A commemorative photo board was set up for visitors to capture memories of the event, allowing them to take home a piece of this historical celebration. The board featured iconic imagery reflective of Saudi Arabia's founding, offering an opportunity to connect visually with the nation's rich cultural heritage.

A highlight of the event was the section dedicated to showcasing popular regional dishes. Attendees had the chance to sample a variety of traditional Najran cuisine, offering a taste of the flavors and culinary traditions that have been central to the local way of life for centuries.

Additionally, the event featured a display of ancient archaeological items, providing insight into the daily lives of past civilizations in the region. These artifacts, ranging from pottery to tools, offered visitors a tangible connection to Najran’s ancient history and the diverse cultures that have shaped the region.

This celebration at the Al-Ukhdood Archaeological Site not only commemorated Founding Day but also reinforced the importance of preserving and promoting Saudi Arabia’s cultural and historical heritage. Through such events, the Heritage Commission continues its efforts to raise awareness about the Kingdom's rich past, ensuring that these traditions are celebrated and remembered for future generations.
