Rome, February 16, 2025 — In a significant diplomatic and security-related visit, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia, visited the Central Security Operations Unit of the Italian Ministry of Interior in Rome today. The visit marks an important moment in the ongoing collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Italy in the field of security and law enforcement.

Upon his arrival, Prince Abdulaziz was warmly received by the unit’s commander, Antonio Giralda Basile. The Minister, accompanied by an official Saudi delegation, was provided with an in-depth briefing on the operations and functions of the Central Security Operations Unit, a key component of Italy's law enforcement apparatus responsible for maintaining public safety and coordinating major security operations across the country.

During the visit, the Prince was shown a detailed visual presentation highlighting the various tasks and responsibilities carried out by the unit. This included an overview of its roles in managing national security threats, coordinating with other Italian security agencies, and ensuring the safety of the public in critical situations. The presentation underscored the unit's high level of readiness and its ability to respond effectively to emergencies and complex security challenges.

In addition to the briefing, Prince Abdulaziz had the opportunity to observe a live military scenario demonstration, where the unit showcased its operational capabilities in real-time. The demonstration provided a comprehensive insight into the advanced tactics, coordination, and resources used by the unit to address a range of security scenarios, from counterterrorism operations to large-scale public safety management.

The visit to the Central Security Operations Unit reflects the strong and growing ties between Saudi Arabia and Italy, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as security cooperation, counterterrorism, and law enforcement. Both nations have expressed a commitment to enhancing collaboration in these critical areas, sharing best practices, and learning from each other's experiences in managing security challenges.

Prince Abdulaziz’s visit to Italy is part of a broader effort to foster international partnerships in the realm of interior security, a key aspect of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its own security infrastructure. By engaging in direct dialogue and collaboration with Italy’s security institutions, Saudi Arabia aims to enhance its own capabilities and continue developing a robust security framework to safeguard its citizens and interests.

As the visit concluded, both the Saudi Minister of Interior and the Italian officials emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in the security domain, with a shared commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and safety at both the national and international levels.
