The 3rd of June, 2024, Riyadh. Along with its primary ecosystem partners in the Kingdom, the Air Connectivity Program extended a warm welcome to the Italian national airline "ITA Airways" as it embarked on its first direct trip from Rome to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Representatives from a wide variety of organizations attended the celebration, which Riyadh Airports Company arranged. The celebration was to commemorate this anniversary, and most probably, tourists will start arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Italian flag carrier, ITA Airways, has commenced flying directly between Rome and Riyadh—two major centers of aviation.
The introduction of ITA into the Saudi market will result in a substantial improvement in air connectivity, stimulate tourism between these flourishing capital cities, and attract a greater number of tourists from the airline's extensive network in the United States. Aymen Aboabah, Chief Executive Officer of Riyadh Airports, and Majid Khan, Chief Executive Officer of the Air Connectivity Programme, expressed their excitement about the prospect of collaborating with our partners to offer passengers from all over the world easier and more convenient access to the marvels that Saudi Arabia has to offer. Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and Chief Executive Officer of Volare, made the following statement: "We are pleased to launch today our first nonstop trip to Riyadh and Saudi Arabia, a growing and strategic market for ITA Airways, particularly for business traffic."
This brand-new connection between Riyadh and Rome is a significant milestone for our organization, as it will increase the amount of commercial traffic that travels between our country and the Arabian Peninsula. With the launch of additional nonstop flights to Kuwait City and Jeddah in July and August, respectively, we will continue to demonstrate our dedication to the Middle East region. The Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has established the Saudi Air Connection Program (ACP) to enhance air connections from unserved and underserved locations all over the world to the kingdom. The Aviation and Civil Partnership (ACP), at the intersection of tourism and aviation, serves to connect various stakeholders to facilitate the achievement of the National Tourism Strategy and establish Saudi Arabia as a global leader in tourism air connectivity.
