Riyadh, August 20, 2024 — The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has unveiled four significant investment opportunities aimed at developing integrated agricultural cities in the Makkah region. These initiatives are designed to advance the agricultural sector, enhance food security, and support sustainable development efforts in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

The first investment opportunity focuses on the establishment of an agricultural city in Al-Kamil, situated near the Wadi Al-Sabaan Dam. This project will center on vegetable and crop production, leveraging the fertile area to boost local agricultural output. The goal is to create a robust infrastructure that supports the cultivation and production of essential crops, contributing to improved food security and agricultural efficiency in the region.

A second, similar investment opportunity is also located in Al-Kamil, but near the Wadi Al-Shawan Dam. This project, dedicated to vegetable and crop production, aims to further enhance the area's agricultural capacity. By expanding the production capabilities, this initiative seeks to meet growing demand and support regional food supplies.

The third opportunity involves the creation of an agricultural city in Haly 3, within the Makkah region, specifically focused on fruit tree cultivation. This project aims to transform a large area into a hub for growing various fruit trees, contributing to the diversification of agricultural outputs and bolstering local fruit production.

The fourth investment opportunity is centered on the development of a Taif rose nursery and a laboratory for growing wild seedlings in the Saiysad National Park. This initiative will support the preservation and cultivation of unique plant species, including the Taif rose, renowned for its cultural and economic value. The project will also focus on biodiversity enhancement and environmental conservation through the growth of wild seedlings.

The Ministry has invited potential investors to apply for these opportunities through the "Furas" platform or by reaching out via email. The deadline for submitting proposals and opening bids is October 1, 2024. This call to action encourages investors to engage with these projects, contributing to the Kingdom’s agricultural development and supporting its broader economic and environmental goals.

By fostering these investment opportunities, the Ministry aims to achieve greater self-sufficiency in agricultural products, enhance regional food security, and drive sustainable development. The projects are integral to Saudi Arabia’s strategy for economic diversification and environmental stewardship, reflecting the country’s commitment to long-term agricultural and ecological sustainability.
