Riyadh, March 06, 2025 – The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in India, held a significant ceremony on Ramadan 2, 1446 AH, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the Maldives, to commemorate the launch of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Date Distribution Program. The event, which marks the start of a vital humanitarian initiative during the holy month of Ramadan, was attended by Fahad Al-Dosari, the Deputy Saudi Ambassador to the Maldives, as well as Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Maldives.

The Date Distribution Program, one of Saudi Arabia's key charitable initiatives, aims to alleviate the needs of Muslims around the world during Ramadan. As part of this year’s program, 10 tons of dates will be distributed in the Maldives, benefiting a total of 40,000 people. This distribution is intended to help families in need by providing a nutritious and culturally significant food item, which is especially important during the fasting hours of Ramadan.

In addition to the date distribution, the event also included the launch of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Iftar Program at the Islamic Center of the Maldives. This program is designed to offer meals to those who are fasting during Ramadan, ensuring that they have a nutritious and fulfilling meal to break their fast each evening. The Iftar Program will benefit 4,500 individuals throughout the month, further reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid during this sacred time.

During the ceremony, the Maldivian Minister of Islamic Affairs expressed his deep gratitude to the leadership of Saudi Arabia for their unwavering dedication to the welfare of Muslim communities around the world. He also acknowledged the Saudi government's commitment to serving the Two Holy Mosques and supporting Islamic causes globally. Additionally, he extended his thanks to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for its effective execution of these charitable programs in the Maldives, which enhance the social and spiritual welfare of the local Muslim population.

This year, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance is implementing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Date Distribution Program across 102 countries, and the Iftar Program in 61 countries worldwide. These initiatives are in line with the directives of the Saudi leadership, which is deeply committed to serving the global Muslim community, providing humanitarian support, and fostering unity and compassion during Ramadan.

Through these programs, Saudi Arabia continues to reinforce its position as a global leader in humanitarian efforts, consistently working to meet the needs of Muslims worldwide. The Kingdom’s charitable initiatives during Ramadan not only provide essential aid but also embody the values of generosity, compassion, and solidarity that are at the heart of Islam.
