The next generation of MINI cars is here with the launch of the MINI Cooper Electric. This electric version of the iconic MINI 3-door offers two power levels and a thrillingly agile driving experience while promoting emissions-free premium mobility. The all-electric MINI Cooper SE, originally introduced in 2020, achieved remarkable success in 2022, with a 25.5% increase in sales, making it the most popular MINI model. Notably, one in five MINIs on the road today is electric.
The new MINI Cooper Electric offers instant torque, available right from the start, in both the 135 kW and 160 kW versions. This immediate acceleration, along with the lithium-ion high-voltage battery positioned for optimal road holding and weight distribution, redefines the iconic MINI go-kart feeling and urban driving fun.
MINI leveraged the BMW Group's development expertise to enhance the driving dynamics of the new MINI Cooper Electric, staying true to the brand's history while pushing the boundaries of driving enjoyment.
These new models feature improved range thanks to battery capacities of 40.7 kWh for the MINI Cooper E and 54.2 kWh for the MINI Cooper SE, offering an estimated range of 300 to 400 kilometers. The interior's flexible design allows for expanded luggage compartment volume and four seats.
With the new MINI Cooper Electric and the upcoming MINI Aceman from 2024, MINI is fully embracing the all-electric future alongside the MINI Countryman, which will be produced starting in November 2023 at the BMW Group Plant Leipzig.
