The Najran National Citrus Festival Highlights Economic Potential and Agricultural Diversity

Showcasing Najran’s Agricultural Potential: The 14th Najran National Citrus Festival highlights the region's diverse agricultural investments, bringing together farmers, experts, and investors to showcase Najran's strong citrus production and promote marketing opportunities.

Najran, Saudi Arabia, January 8, 2025 – The 14th Najran National Citrus Festival has once again proven to be a pivotal platform for showcasing the region’s agricultural potential, highlighting its diverse investments and marketing strategies. Held at the picturesque King Abdulaziz Park walkway in Najran, the festival spans an impressive 1,200-meter area and is organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. It brings together key stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural experts, and investors, to share innovative solutions and celebrate Najran’s rich citrus production.

The event offers significant economic benefits for local farmers and agricultural investors, with participants displaying a wide range of citrus fruits and products. Eng. Hamad Al Dakman, Director of the National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidamah), emphasized the center's role in advancing sustainable farming practices. Through the selection of optimal plant seeds and trees, Estidamah aims to improve citrus production efficiency while promoting water and energy conservation technologies. Al Dakman stressed the importance of knowledge transfer and strategic partnerships in achieving the Kingdom’s food-security goals, which are central to the country’s broader vision for sustainable agricultural growth.

In line with these sustainability efforts, Raf’an Al-Amer, Chairman of the Najran Association Green, highlighted the association’s contributions to increasing vegetation cover, having already planted over 60,000 trees in the past four years. Looking ahead, Al-Amer shared plans to plant an additional 500,000 trees by 2027, in collaboration with both government and private sectors, further advancing Saudi Arabia's Green Vision.

The festival also attracted enthusiastic participation from local farmers and investors. Ibrahim Saleh Al-Sinan, a local farmer, praised the event for effectively meeting farmers' needs by providing opportunities to market and sell their citrus products directly to the public. Abdullah Fahd Al-Waili, an agricultural investor, underscored the region’s ideal conditions for citrus farming, including fertile soil, a favorable climate, and abundant water resources. Al-Waili, who owns a sprawling farm in Khashab covering 4 million square meters with over 50,000 citrus trees, emphasized the economic viability of agricultural investment in Najran.

The 14th edition of the Najran National Citrus Festival continues to serve as a vibrant platform for showcasing Najran’s agricultural potential, fostering local partnerships, and supporting the region’s journey towards sustainable agricultural development. By facilitating dialogue between farmers, experts, and investors, the festival plays an integral role in driving forward the Kingdom's agricultural and environmental goals.
