The Hira Cultural District in Makkah is hosting the "Hira Winter" events, featuring a range of attractions, including the Revelation Exhibition, which immerses visitors in the first revelation of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Makkah, January 7, 2025 – The Hira Cultural District in Makkah is alive with activity, offering a wide range of attractions and events as part of the "Hira Winter" festivities, timed to coincide with the mid-year vacation. This vibrant district is carefully designed to cater to visitors of all ages and interests, bringing the spirit of Makkah's rich history and cultural heritage to life.
At the heart of the celebrations is the highly anticipated Revelation Exhibition, a remarkable showcase that draws visitors into the sacred history of Islam. The exhibition focuses on the revered figures of the Prophets, with an emphasis on the first divine revelation received by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Cave of Hira. The exhibition tells the story of this transformative moment in Islamic history, starting with the earliest prophets such as Adam (peace be upon him) and continuing through to the final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Through innovative museum displays and cutting-edge technology, including interactive screens and realistic simulations, the exhibition provides an immersive experience. Visitors are given the chance to step into the past, reliving the pivotal moment of the first revelation, with a sense of being inside the Cave of Hira itself. This allows guests to gain a deeper understanding of the sacred context of the revelation, alongside the important role played by the angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) and Khadija bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her), the Mother of Believers.
One of the key features of the exhibition is its collection of historical artifacts, including a priceless photocopy of the Quran attributed to the noble companion Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). This Quran, one of the oldest surviving mushafs, exemplifies the Muslim community's dedication to preserving the Book of Allah. Visitors also have the opportunity to view ancient stone inscriptions bearing verses from the Holy Quran, reflecting the profound historical efforts to document and protect these sacred texts for future generations.
Situated next to the iconic Hira Mountain, the Hira Cultural District spans an impressive 67,000 square meters. It houses a diverse mix of service and commercial facilities, enhancing the cultural experience with a selection of shops, restaurants, and recreational areas. The district serves as a hub for cultural enrichment, offering visitors an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in Makkah’s deep-rooted history while exploring the inspiring story of the first revelation and the early days of Islam.
