The primary goal of the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), situated in Saudi Arabia, is to preserve and document Islamic history, particularly the biography of Prophet Muhammad.
The foundation began work on the Historical Atlas of the Prophet's Sirah, a large-scale project overseen by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz that focuses on the biography of Prophet Muhammad.
To ensure that the project is executed to the best possibility, Darah uses historians, researchers, and scholars under the Pilgrim Experience Program and relies on trusted sources and state-of-the-art technologies. The project intends to classify the places and monuments mentioned in the Prophet's biography and create an academic reference for his life.
Riyadh, 2nd June 2024. The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, normally known as Darah, puts enormous emphasis on the preservation and documentation of Islamic history. Saudi Arabia does this in order to recognize its own leadership over the Islamic world. This includes acknowledging the Kingdom's position as the location of the first house of worship for humanki. Moreover, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, offered continuous support and attention to the project. The Chairman of the Darah Board of Trustees, Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, oversaw the project to ensure its effective execution. They initiated the groundbreaking concept for an all-encompassing Atlas project, centered on the illustrious life story of the Prophet Muhammad. The Pilgrim Experience Program is the organization that Darah collaborates with to develop this initiative, which is in line with the organization's values and reflects its interest in all aspects of Islamic and Arab history.
To capitalize on its intellectual expertise in historical atlases, Darah has recruited a select group of historians, researchers, and scholars from a variety of institutions and historical research centers. Therefore, they utilize reliable sources and cutting-edge technologies to ensure the project's completion to the highest possible standard. Darah's scientific endeavor aims to record the locations and landmarks mentioned in the Prophet's biography from their sources. This will be done using the latest technologies like geographic coordinates, satellite photographs, and exact maps.
The other aim of the project is to set up a scholarly reference on the Prophet's biography through the conversion of historical works from written manuscripts into schematics, shapes, and visual routes. We have taken this action in pursuit of our objective.
