The chief of the Arab Mining Company, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Shehhi, and Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, had a meeting in Jordan on May 23, 2024, in regard to how to improve mining cooperation. During their research, Alkhorayef and Al-Shehhi made an investigation into how to maximize the mining resources that are available in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Also present at the event was vice minister of mining affairs Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer, an engineer. Alkhorayef visited Jordan on business and made it a point to speak with representatives of the mining industry there. Because Saudi Arabia has large phosphate reserves, he met with the officers of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company to seek a partnership in phosphate extraction and production.
In addition, the minister met with representatives of Arab Potash to investigate the progress achieved in the implementation of the memorandum of agreement between the company and the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden). The agreement is to increase the degree of cooperation between the two countries in specialty fertilizers and commodities.
