Dubai, February 13, 2025 – Faisal Alibrahim, the Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, participated in the highly anticipated World Government Summit (WGS) 2025, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from February 11 to 13. This year’s summit, held under the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” brought together global leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss the evolving role of governments in an ever-changing world. Minister Alibrahim’s participation underscored Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing economic diversification and regional cooperation within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as part of the Kingdom’s broader Vision 2030 objectives.

Minister Alibrahim was a key speaker in the panel discussion titled “Sustainability Through Economic Diversification in the GCC.” During his address, he emphasized that the integration of the GCC is not merely a compromise of national interests but rather a multiplier effect that enhances the ambitions of individual nations while driving regional prosperity. He argued that deeper collaboration within the GCC would not only strengthen the resilience of its economies but also attract increased foreign investment, positioning the region as a competitive force on the global stage. In his remarks, the minister highlighted that, in a shifting global landscape, regional unity would bolster the economic, social, and political stability of the GCC countries.

On the second day of the summit, Minister Alibrahim participated in a session titled “The Emergence of Multiple Economic Blocs,” where he provided insights into how global challenges such as rising protectionism and trade disruptions are reshaping international trade dynamics. He pointed out that these developments are pushing countries and corporations to prioritize stability over efficiency, emphasizing the importance of creating flexible, secure trade systems that can adapt to future disruptions while promoting long-term economic growth.

The summit also provided a valuable opportunity for Minister Alibrahim to engage in meaningful discussions with senior government officials and private-sector leaders from around the world. On the sidelines of the event, he explored various collaboration opportunities and ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and other nations. These discussions reflected the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to foster international partnerships and drive the implementation of forward-thinking policies that empower the next generation of governments.

The World Government Summit serves as a vital platform for advancing global dialogue on governance, sustainability, and economic development. By bringing together governments, international organizations, and thought leaders, the summit promotes cooperation and policy innovation aimed at tackling the challenges of the future. Minister Alibrahim’s participation underscored Saudi Arabia’s role as a leading player in regional and global economic discussions, particularly in areas related to economic diversification, sustainability, and international cooperation.
