Riyadh, 2nd June, 2024. The Secretary-General of the GCC, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has expressed the strongest condemnation against attempts by Israeli occupation forces to undermine UNRWA. The Israeli occupation forces are classifying UNRWA as a terrorist organization and lifting the immunity of its employees, who are fulfilling their humanitarian role in alleviating the human tragedy that the Palestinian people endure. In accordance with international and humanitarian resolutions, he emphasized that the Israeli occupation forces have an obligation to facilitate the work of humanitarian organizations. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of the international community endorsing the work and efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and halting the illegal practices of Israeli occupation forces.
Furthermore, Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC countries' unwavering stances on the Palestinian cause, which is the most important and fundamental issue for Arabs and Muslims alike. He also reiterated the GCC's support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem serving as the capital. This is in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
