The speaker of Indonesia's Consultative Assembly travels to the Muslim World League.

Diplomatic Visit: Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Speaker Ahmad Muzani visited the Muslim World League (MWL) in Makkah, delivering greetings from President Prabowo Subianto and praising the MWL's global efforts to promote peace, tolerance, and the true message of Islam.

Makkah, December 26, 2024 – The Speaker of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly, Ahmad Muzani, led an official delegation to the headquarters of the Muslim World League (MWL) in Makkah, where he was warmly welcomed by MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa.

During the visit, Muzani conveyed heartfelt greetings from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and expressed profound appreciation for the MWL’s ongoing efforts to promote the core values of Islam—peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding—on a global scale. Muzani praised the MWL’s initiatives that have successfully bridged cultural and religious divides, fostering constructive dialogue and showcasing the true message of Islam to the world. He emphasized the league's pivotal role in dispelling misconceptions about Islam and positioning it as a religion of peace and compassion.

As part of his diplomatic mission, Muzani extended a formal invitation to Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa to visit Indonesia, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations and the shared commitment to promoting peace, unity, and interfaith dialogue. The Speaker also reaffirmed Indonesia’s full support for the MWL's ambitious initiative to establish a branch of the International Fair and Museum of the Prophet's Biography and Islamic Civilization in Indonesia. This project, aimed at showcasing the rich history of Islamic civilization, is expected to become a key platform for intercultural exchange and understanding.

In his remarks, Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa expressed the MWL's gratitude for the support extended by Indonesia and its leadership. He reiterated that the league is honored to carry the noble message of Islam, emphasizing its core principles of mercy, compassion, and peaceful coexistence. Al-Issa also addressed Islam’s pioneering role in combating hatred, racism, and the erroneous notion of a "clash of civilizations," which often seeks to portray Islam as being at odds with the rest of the world.

A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to discussing the Charter of Makkah, a historic document signed by prominent Islamic scholars and senior muftis from across the Muslim world. The charter advocates for the unity of Muslims, regardless of sectarian differences, and promotes peaceful coexistence and respect for human dignity. This groundbreaking document was presented to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and has received the endorsement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Charter of Makkah stands as a testament to the Islamic world’s commitment to global peace and harmony, transcending sectarian divisions and fostering an inclusive vision of Islam for future generations.

The discussions held during this high-level meeting reflect the deepening collaboration between Indonesia and the Muslim World League, as both parties seek to promote shared values of peace, unity, and mutual respect. This partnership promises to continue advancing the cause of global understanding and solidarity among the diverse cultures and communities of the Muslim world and beyond.
