Khartoum, February 16, 2025 — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has officially launched the third phase of its Food Security Support Project in Khartoum State, Sudan, aimed at providing vital assistance to those affected by the ongoing humanitarian challenges in the country. This new phase of the initiative, which is part of a broader Saudi Arabian effort to alleviate food insecurity in Sudan, was inaugurated in a ceremony attended by prominent officials and representatives of KSrelief.

During the launch event, the Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, expressed his profound gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued support. He highlighted the significant role played by KSrelief in addressing the pressing humanitarian needs of Sudanese citizens, especially those impacted by displacement and food shortages. The Governor emphasized the importance of the Food Security Support Project, underscoring its contributions to providing immediate relief to vulnerable populations while also fostering long-term recovery in the region.

The third phase of the Food Security Support Project is set to distribute 30,000 food baskets to displaced persons as part of the Voluntary Return Program. This program targets individuals who are returning to their homes in several key regions, including Al-Jazirah, Khartoum, the Red Sea, Sennar, and White Nile states. These food baskets will provide much-needed sustenance to those rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of displacement, offering a critical safety net as they work to resettle and regain stability.

This initiative is a key component of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts in Sudan, delivered through KSrelief, the Kingdom’s specialized arm for international humanitarian assistance. The support reflects Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to addressing humanitarian crises and providing aid to communities in need, particularly those affected by conflict, displacement, and food insecurity.

KSrelief has been actively involved in numerous projects across Sudan, focusing on providing essential relief in the form of food aid, medical support, water and sanitation services, and educational initiatives. The launch of this third phase of the Food Security Support Project further solidifies the Kingdom’s leadership in global humanitarian response efforts, continuing its tradition of offering vital assistance to those in need.

Through these initiatives, Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, remains a steadfast partner in the ongoing efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, working in collaboration with local and international organizations to support the Sudanese people as they recover and rebuild their lives.
